The Hunter's Dream - by Nadine Juta - Chapter 2

Chapter 2

He wakes with a start, looking bewildered at the chaos around him, the sleeping redhead on his chest, the bloody linens strewn on the ground, the ache of his muscles returning slowly. He closes his eyes, images of the night flooding back in a sudden rush – she had been a virgin and he had hurt her badly, had seen her fear and pain flash over her features. He almost felt sorry for Isabella, almost…
Juan moves slightly under the sleepy Isabella, not wanting to wake her, he still had loads to do before she wakes. He lifts himself off the bed and then realizes the full impact of their passionate exchange, the bed linen lay strewn over the floor, and the duvet in the corner is the only thing that seems untouched. The rest of the room is a tangled mess, their clothes lying all over the floor, the bed is askew, the mattress almost more on the floor then the bed… He smiles, she had been as feisty in bed as he had thought she’d be. If not more.
Isabella stirs and mumbles softly, shifting position. Momentarily Juan fears she would wake but fortunately, she remains asleep. He cleans the room, puts out fresh linen and clothes for his sexy redhead, even the undergarments he chose would fit perfectly, then he heads down to the kitchen. He puts on the coffee machine and scrambles eggs, along with bacon strips and pork bangers. Tomatoes are fried and onion slightly browned, toast accompanies this feast and when all is done, he makes coffee for both of them. First he carries her breakfast up, along with the coffee and is satisfied to see she still sleeps, he hurries down for his and quickly returns to her room.
Isabella opens her eyes, sees the breakfast tray and pulls a face, her whole body is sore, every inch of her body aching. She glances at the room, sees the fresh linen and clothes on the chair, where did it come from? She wondered. Suddenly the door opens and Juan steps in with a breakfast tray of his own. She smiles at him sleepily, he smiles back, “Morning sleeping beauty, did you sleep well?”
“Wonderful thanks and you, handsome?”
“Me too, how could I not? With a lovely girl at my side” He moves closer, hesitant to scare her, not knowing how she feels about what had gone down, when he reaches the bed he bends forward, planting a soft, tentative kiss seductively upon her sweet lips. She blushes, slightly embarrassed, and looks down at her tray. “Thought you might need a meal to replenish your strength, hope you enjoy it.” He touches her chin making her look up at him.
“Thanks, wasn’t necessary though.” She smiles up at him, pulling him down to sit next to her. They eat in silence, occasionally stealing hidden glimpses at one another. After the meal, he hands her two painkillers, convincing her that she should sleep a little while longer after taking the pills, and that, as it is Saturday she doesn’t have classes to attend or work to do. She gives in to his request, though not sure why, her mind reeling with pain, her head is throbbing, about to burst, her body feels tender, broken and torn, and in dire need of rest.
Not too long after that, she is asleep, her breathing slow, her dreams sweet. Juan picks himself out her arms once more, and decides to do some shopping while she’s asleep. He treads out the room softly, locking the door behind him. He curses himself loudly. He couldn’t do it. He couldn’t chain her. What was wrong with him? Had he bought all that shit for nothing? He had to use it! With a new sense of determination building in him, he heads out the door, turning the alarm on just in case.
